What fascinated us wasn’t the company. Nor was it the territory. It was everything connecting the two that had never really been made visible.
Mendes Gonçalves had deep roots in Golegã. Instead of creating another corporate responsibility programme, we focused on strengthening the connective tissue between leadership, employees and community. As those relationships became stronger, the company’s role evolved naturally.
It stopped acting as a sponsor of the territory and became one of its co-authors.
